We had a similar one in the Philippines back in the 1970s about a stone age tribe called the Tasadays. The scoop was picked up by all the big foreign media including National Geographic. It turned out to be a concocted hype replete with big funding and a grand production design. :):)

The photographer and the agency have done more harm than good by concocting up this ’lost tribe’ story. Next time a really important geniune story about environmental dangers comes up, people with react with a yawn.

The media should understood that it loses credibility by concocting stories. However noble or righteous be the cause, wrong means will only harm the cause. I am not saying this. Mahatma Gandhi said this.

According to him the right means are as important as the right cause.
