A centuries old practice of torturing enemies is much practiced by Bush administration’s intelligence agencies in their fight against Al-Qaeeda.

What is waterboarding ?

A broader debate is on in US about CIA’s torture tacticswaterboarding_DFW2r_4227 in their fight against Al-Qaeeda. Though Democrats are against it Republicans have failed to criticize it honestly or clearly including senator McCain. It is worth remembering that McCain was himself a Prisoner of War in Vietnam war he might have gone through such torture.

The Goal of Waterboarding:
The goal of waterboarding is to get the information out from the arrested person.abc_wn_waterboard_071102_mn_QKOMD_4227 This technique creates a sensation of drowning but generally does not cause death. The subject is tied to a tilted board, and immobilized with his head positioned lower than his feet. In some cases, a piece of cloth or tape is tied over the subject’s face and water is repeatedly poured over it. This triggers a gag reflex and chokes the subject.

By the grace of Bush’s administration CIA has fully enjoyed this attrocity in the name of war against terror.

This is not in defense of the CIA, but your article looks inclined to one side. All intelligence groups, not just the CIA, have been creative in eliciting information from detainees and prisoners. :)

I must congratualate your national spirit.
It is not a matter of tilt on one side or old one. Writing a blog does not mean writing spicy stories or only fashion and techonlogy.

Injustice and violations of human rights by any country, religion or political group should be condemned by peace loving and wise people like you.

You can and will see my blogs on this instablogs.com codemning the acts commited my Muslims.

Please do not over react in the spirit of humanity.

The US has no reason to act high-and-almighty as it is a democracy. When it comes to human rights, it sometimes acts worse than tinpot dictators.

The only difference is the media is so powerful in the country that it always over-publicizes the wrong doings in other nations (if they are hostile to the US) and under-reports excesses by its own government.

Remember it was only the Washington Post that dared report the Watergate scandal. The rest of the media was uninterested.

The US and Britain make a hue and cry about human rights violations in some countries only when it suits them.

They should take a good hard look at their own approach to it. Guantanamo Bay is blot on the US which cannot be explained or excused. Waterboarding is something that would have had The Nazis nodding in approval.
